Dua hits number 1 on US Pop Charts

Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’, a previous chart-topper in the UK has now made #1 on the US Pop and Dance Radio charts. Post Malone’s ‘Circles’ was holding the #1 spot for some time but Dua has jumped ahead making it her 2nd #1 with ‘New Rules’ topping charts in 2017.

‘Don’t Start Now’ has an upbeat, positive note to the process of moving on from someone. ‘I’m all good already, so moved on it’s scary. I’m not where you left me at all’ illuminates power and a fresh start. Dua is known for these powerful messages in her lyrics with her previous songs such as ‘New Rules’ and ‘One Kiss’ which both defined her female power and her control of situations.

Sailing overseas or just drape me in Gucci, no..

Summer Walker’s album, ‘Over it’ has an overall stunning sound with slow R&B songs touching on love, desires and anger. Summer’s lyrics flow beautifully highlighting her view on the abuse of passion with the way that men are with her. Her most popular song, ‘Playing Games’ was released with a remix version with Bryson Tiller. It uses the chorus from Destiny Child’s ‘Say My Name’ changing it to be a moodier version and hanging more on the words, ‘playing games.’ It is clear that her producer London on da Track knows Summer and pays attention to the style of her love ballads embracing her originality.

Justin Bieber’s New Album: ‘Changes’

Justin Bieber has started 2020 with a brand new album and a brand new documentary series, Seasons. Both give some insight into some of the negative effects of stardom in the modern day with Justins battle through ‘seasons’. His Youtube series has gained a huge amount of attention with a large number of views within the first week of its release and being the first time that details of Justin’s life have been recalled.

The last time Justin properly performed live was back in 2017 when he cancelled his purpose tour due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.’ Since then Justin has taken a break from performing and has focused on his relationship with his wife, Hailey and his health. Now he is back with an emotional new album describing the past few years of his life and the ‘changes’ he has gone through. But is it a success? It’s hard to look at the success of Changes without comparing to his album, Purpose‘s. Purpose recreated Justin Bieber’s career reinventing him into an older, mindful man. Purpose had a lot of hit singles such as, ‘Sorry’ creating significant success in comparison to Changes. However, despite this difference Changes is still a huge success and a beautiful album with stunning lyrics and catchy melodies.
